LINKSPAM: A good idea

Posted in LINKSPAM, Politics at 2:18 pm by qkslvrwolf

This is the best way of going about things I’ve heard yet. Kudos to the author, and I concur. Substantive can come later. Let’s just stop the obstruction, for now.

LINKSPAM: DNC Media Director shows why neocon hiring practices suck

Posted in LINKSPAM, Politics at 2:11 pm by qkslvrwolf

From crooks and liars. I believe this is a DNC media director and an RNC media director, and while they’re both just spewing talking points, the DNC lady seems to actually know something about the issue, whilst the RNC lady just keeps looking like she’s been poleaxed. My favorite is the bit at the end where matthews (a dick, but one who asked a couple of ok questions this time) asks the RNC lady “how do we stop muslim 15 and 16 year olds from becoming terrorists” and she just stares at him, slacked jawed.

Hey…when you hire folks because they’re from the right religious nut university, look cute, and probably give good head (note the slack-jawed expression), you’re not gonna get someone who can deviate from their memorized talking points.

The video is at C&L, but I uploaded it to my site (fair use, right?) with apologies to C&L so I can access it from work and show it to some guys.

Linky.

LINKSPAM: Engagement Rings

Posted in LINKSPAM, Personal, Philosophy at 4:16 pm by qkslvrwolf

This is extremely interesting.

A little background for why this intrigues me. I actually had no idea that guys didn’t wear engagement rings until at most four years ago and more likely somewhere around two years ago. And when I found out, I was appalled. There is, to my mind, one and only one reason for a woman to wear the ring and not the guy. It marks her as off limits. Apparently, guys are free until the marriage actually occurs. Guess that explains the bachelor party idea.

Anyway, I never did like the idea of the engagement ring much, and after I found out that it was women only I figured that I would just insist on one too, if the person I was getting married too was insisting on one. After reading this article? Probably just do away with the bloody thing would be my vote, although if that’s not an option because of protests from my as-yet-imaginary significant other then I’ll at least press for non diamond bearing rings. Yet another aspect of main stream culture that turns out to be the devil spawn of someone’s advertising campaign. Sigh.

LINKSPAM: Al Gore keeps getting cooler

Posted in LINKSPAM, Politics at 10:26 am by qkslvrwolf

I don’t think he’ll ever enter back into politics. Certainly not this year, which probably means not in 2012, either.

But this is a fantastic article. Gore is growing, and I will certainly remember him as one of the great leaders of our time, one of the great Americans.

Speaking of which, I need to add him on myspace. ;-)
