As you probably have noticed by now, I’ve installed a new theme for the website. Much tweaking is left to do, and in order to do so, I’m going to need to understand the theme a bit more (help me, Kevin!).
Anyway, something I want to do is get the quotes back up and get my archives to display in a less expanded format again.
Let me know what you think of the theme. One thing I think of as an advantage is the fact that I’m back to being able to page through the blog history a few posts at a time, and that is a Very Good Thing ™.
Anyway, seriously, let me know what you think.

I just finished reading The God Delusion, by Richard Dawkins (who has earned himself a spot on my short list of personal heroes.)
In the book, Dawkins not only presents and defeats all the reasoning used by theists in arguing for (or at least apologizing for) their fantastic fairy tale beliefs, but he also makes a convincing case for not apologizing for and excusing moderate theism.
The book has absolutley moved me from the “soft atheist/agnostic” to the “militant atheist” camp. And by militant I simply mean that I will no longer agree with people who claim that religion is a force for good in this world. I don’t mean that I will ever do violence, or that I will purposefully accost people like an evangelist would.
But I plan to study and practice the arguments in the book until I can wield them in my own right. I always feel bad when I say something like that, but any given argument is a skill that is increased and solidified by practice and study.
Anyway, even if you aren’t an atheist or other variety of skeptic, you would be well advised to read this book. It gives you a very fresh perspective, one that I have never seen or heard articulated in this way before.
And next time I read it, I’ll be sure to toss in a bunch of quotes to the ol’ quote machine.

Had a couple of friends over for dinner. It was fun. I cooked…umm…well, crap. I cooked Alton Brown skirt steaks, portabella mushrooms, a veggie soup (Christa is a veggie), and a sort of succatash that Candice came up with way back in the day. I was going to do some garlic bread, too, and arrange the steak/mushrooms on the bread in an artsy way, but we were too hungry to wait the extra 5 or 10 minutes.
It was really good. We had some wine, ate the food, then talked whilst they went throught magazines on the floor.
I have this idea that I should be doing this as a picture blog. I’m putting a picture of the remnants of the meal after that first paragraph, a picture of the magazines after the second, and of course, a picture of Matt and Christa reading different playboys (hilarious picture, btw). But that would require me finding the usb cable for my camera, and I just can’t be arsed right now.
Long story short, I’ve been trying to get people to come over to my house for forever, now. I set the house up to be good for the shit like we used to do at Goucher…gatherings. A few people, some good coversation, maybe some music. But no one ever comes over because of where I live. They all live about 20-30 minutes away north, and so no one ever comes down here.
But I finally got these guys to come. And what happens? My cozy cozy house feels all empty after they leave, making me feel? Yup, you guessed it. Really lonely. Bah. Freakin’ randomness. Hate it.
Anyway…at least I have the lovely smell of steak permeating my house. That’s good stuff.
