Fragility of life
2006 June 7
A friend of a friend’s kid just died. He had downs syndrome, and went in for surgery yesterday. His heart stopped when they put him under, and although they revived him, he didn’t survive the night. I met him for the first time last weekend, at a barbeque my friend had. He seemed fine, although he was on oxygen. I honestly didn’t pay much attention to him.
Now he’s dead. Life doesn’t seem terribly fragile to me, most of the time. I’m an American, my food supply is way more than i need, medicine is good, yada yada.
But life is fragile, and it is fleeting. Rest in Peace, little guy.

The longer I live, the more I realize how fragile life is, how quickly it can change (in an instant!), and how lucky we all have been.
It helps me understand that each day I have, especially with family and friends, is incredibly precious.
MAY PEACE BE UPON YOUR SOULS, HEARTS, MINDS, AND BODIES…AMEN.
Thanks, sara. And upon you.
