So, yesterday, I attacked the plants that were eating into the ivy on my front stairs. There were mass casualties on both sides…I myself took wounds in the form of big, nasty blisters (today, I bought gloves to prevent more blisters.
Anyway…here are the results:
Note the massive amounts of carnage.

Apparently this weekend, the offices of Democratic representative William Jefferson got raided. This has sparked a huge outcry from…wait for it. The republicans. The neocons.
When was the last time you remember anyone from the republican party actually making a stink when something bad happened to a democrat. I’m not sure its happened in the 3-5 years I’ve been paying real attention to politics.
Therefore, my first reaction (and I need to actually finish reading the story, but I’m pretty sure the story thinks the same things) is that the cons are scared of their own offices being raided in the massive and ever-expanding investigations into their culture of corruption. (I know its a talking point, but hey..its true. :-)
Harry Reid seems to have said it best. Separation of powers is great, but if someone is doing wrong (like taking and giving bribes, as is this case), then we need to come down on them with both feet.
In fact, if its someone to whom we’ve entrusted power, then I’d say the penalties should be even more harsh.
The republicans were complaining because they said that the Justice Department already had all the evidence they need. Thats the perfect time for a raid. What we should worry about is raids that aren’t based on evidence.

Its over. AC decided today, almost two years today after we (unofficially) started dating, that she could not contribute to this relationship anymore. Which has been happening since August or so…since her parents started pressuring her to drop me. So, finally, today, she has ended it.
She has been pushing me away for so long that the pain is only a dull ache. I still feel, however, that this is extremely sad. Because I feel that this is something that should have worked. I don’t think I will ever find someone as perfect for me as AC was, back before her parents started interfering. How she feels about me…I don’t know anymore.
To be fair, AC will say that it is not her parents….that she needed to concentrate totally on herself..in her words, “I have many things that I want to accomplish and do for myself that don’t involve anyone else”
I find this especially ironic given that she claims her notion of heaven is built on the relationships you build with other people. I guess those people just have to be already related to you by blood to count.
Sad to say, I am now and probably always will be bitter about the way this worked out. I think that that is one of my major weaknesses. And I can’t even decide that I want to work on that.

So, this morning in the shower - my favorite location for freethinking - I somehow transitioned from Boondock Saints to Aladdin, and came up with a new, much better plot line for Aladdin. Better here means “much more palatable and without nonsensical decisions”, not “more enjoyable film”.
So the old plot went something like “Aladdin meets jasmine, wants to get on her, but he’s a “street rat”, so he can’t, finds lamp, gets genie, wishes to be a prince, is made into the illusion of a prince, woos her but keeps trying to hold the illusion which pisses her off ’cause she doesn’t like princes, gets noticed by evil jafar who steals the lamp, big conflict, jafra is defeated by his own ego, the sultan make aladdin into a prince, hey presto, he and jasmine live happlily ever after”.
My new version goes like this: “yada yada, find lamp, gets genie, wishes to be a prince, is whisked to the palace by the genie where he exposes Jafar, jafar is killed and the genie nudges the sultan who makes him into a prince, he and jasmine live happily ever after. ”
See, he didn’t wish to “look like a prince” he wished to be a prince. This has, for whatever reason, always bugged me about the Aladdin plotline. And now I’ve solved it, and can move on with my life. :-)

I actually sent this in an email to Candice, but I decided to post it up because I’ve barely posted recently, and well, this is generic “sean info” that deserves to be blogged. :-)
It never fails: the homework that you think is going to be a bitch is easy (if time consuming), and the homework that you think is going to be ok is a major pain in the ass coupled by a complete lack of writing ability.
And on top of that, if I’ve got some type of repetitive assignment, I don’t figure out the best way to go about it until I’m ready to start working on the last one. I can’t figure it out eariler…nooooo.
Anyway, I hope you’re having a good day. I miss you.
